Happy New Year everyone!!!
The first post of 2018 is a truly amazing one, it’s an interview with the authors of Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings. I’m actually super buzzing to share the interview with you! Big thank you to Lucy for sending me a copy of Zenith!!
Zenith is currently out in the UK and only a few days away from being released in the US and I love it!!! Honestly, it’s one of my favourite books :’)
Zenith is a YA-Sci-Fi all girl spacecrew action packed book. And I will happily re-read it time and time again. And if you don’t want to read this book based on the blurb at the bottom of the page, then maybe this interview will entice you…
First things first, can we talk about how gorgeous the cover is for Zenith??? I could just stare at it allllll day!! (Also thank you very much for allowing me to interview you both!!)
Thank you! We’re so in love with the cover. It totally captures the entire story, plus it pops on the bookshelf so well!
Given Zenith is written by two authors, did you work out a routine of one writes 1 chapter the other writes the next? Or did you have a different way of writing it?
ZENITH was a very interesting process. It was all done on Google Docs, which allowed us both to jump in whenever we wanted onto scenes and storylines. The planning portion was done step by step as the novel was written, so almost pantsing in a way. We’d plan a scene, write it, then plan out the next scene, and so on!
Where did you do most of your writing?
Google Docs! On the go, at events together, and for the editorial process, we always met up at one house or the other to iron out all the last minute details, character traits, add in fun extras, etc!
What drew you to writing a space book and how did you come to the idea of Zenith?
We both love outer space! It’s fun to dream about, and since writing is a lot of dreaming, we decided to take a leap and explore space by creating our own galaxy!
Which Hogwarts Houses would you put the cast of Zenith in?
Every house! It’s funny, because the cast is so large and diverse, there’s basically space for everyone to pick their own house 🙂 But definitely, they lean towards Slytherin…
If Zenith became a movie who would you like to see playing Andi, Valen and Dex?
We both are so split on our answers on this one 🙂 We’d love to see what readers think about their fan-casts! If you’ve read the book, send us your fancasts! That would be fun to see!
Did you listen to any music whilst writing Zenith? If so, what songs?
We have a ZENITH playlist on Spotify! It’s full of all instrumental intense music!
Recommend three books everyone needs to read (aside from Zenith of course)
We love the Stalking Jack the Ripper series, Caraval, and all of Roshani Chockshi’s works!
What can people look forward to in the sequel?
Hopefully a lot of fun stuff from the first book, but we think book two is a lot darker in its own way…
YA Sci-Fi featuring an all-girl spaceship crew taking control and showing the boy’s how it’s done, with romance, tragedy and ray-guns.
Most know Androma Racella as the Bloody Baroness: a powerful mercenary whose reign of terror stretches across the Mirabel Galaxy. To those aboard her fearsome glass starship the Marauder, she’s just Andi, their captain and protector.
When a routine mission goes awry, the all-girl crew’s resilience is tested as they find themselves in a most unfamiliar place: at the mercy of a powerful bounty hunter connected to Andi’s past and a harrowing betrayal.
