I hope you’ve had a lovely start to 2016 and have read some books.
I sadly have been in a reading slump since before Christmas 😦 However I think I am starting to out of my slump! So in honour of that I’ve decided to post the top ten books that I really want to read this year.
Now these are in no particular order and if I don’t end up reading one or more of them then it’s not too bad. Anyway here are the ten books I want to read this year.
Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon
I read Outlander in Spring/Summer of 2015 and started DiA but had to put it down to read some other books. I fell in love with Outlander and the world Diana created and cannot wait to get back into it!
Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson
Again, I read the start of The Mistborn series last year in February and fell in love with it. They were one of my first fantasy books I read that were incredibly thick. But I’m super excited to finish it as I want to get started on the sequel series that starts with The Alloy of Law I believe. I love Brandon’s writing style and cannot wait to find out who the Hero of Ages is.
A Clash of Kings by George R R Martin
Similar theme coming up here, I read A Game of Thrones last year, loved it and dove straight into ACOK but for some reason put it down. I felt so absorbed in this series and loved the attention to detail so I’m hoping to love the sequel even more.
Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas
Absolutely loved Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight and I really meant to read this two years ago but it just got put to the bottom of my TBR. I really hope I can read this and then Queen of Shadows before the 5th book comes out. I’ve not read the bind up of novellas but I’m hoping to get some of those read too. Also A Court of Thorns and Roses because I really just need to read it!!!
The Name of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
I’ve had this book ever since I sub’d to Little Book Owl way back in 2013 and I really wanted to start it ASAP but that was back when a thick book was not my favourite kind but now they are I want to get it read. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this mans writing and I really want to experience it for myself.
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Okay, so I really did mean to read this book in 2014. And 2013. In fact for a while now. But last year I found out it was better to read the prequel series before the last book in this series. So I finished up reading that series (loved it so so much) and now I feel ready for this book. Especially as Lady Midnight is out in March and I am super excited for it.
Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
Ahh the first book I picked up of 2015 but put down once a reading slump wormed it’s way into my mind. I loved the short chapters and the plot was really intriguing. I really enjoyed what I read of it and I hope to get it finished soon!
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
It’s kind of surprising I’ve never read a Bronte but I thought I’d make this my first one as this year is her 200th birthday so what better excuse to have to read this book (and also Wuthering Heights)!
Cinder by Marissa Meyer
Again, bought this when I first sub’d to Little Book Owl and never managed to start it. I have the whole series though so I’m thinking I’ll marathon the entire series as I’ve heard nothing but good things from this series!
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
I love a good trilogy and especially one that has a spin-off type book that follows and this series does. I began reading this book last year and got about a third of the way through it but never managed to finish it. I loved what I read though so I’m hoping to finish it soon!
So there you are, my top ten books I want to get read this year. Let me know if you’ve read any and if there’s certain books you think I should be reading first. Also, let me know in the comments below what books you definitely want to get read this year.
Update: since posting this I have read Cinder and Hero of Ages. Wooo!!
